- Diagnosis and treatment of diseases of the small intestine.
- Diagnosis and treatment of the lower digestive tract diseases (colon, rectum).
- Diagnosis of esophageal motility disorders by high-resolution esophageal manometry (HRM – High Resolution Manometry).
- Diagnosis of episodes of gastro-esophageal reflux (24-hour wired pachymetry – 24hr pHmetry).
- Diagnosis of diseases of the upper and lower digestive tract without the use of endoscopes – Capsule Endoscopy
- Cauterization of upper and lower digestive vascular neoplasms using Argon Plasma Coagulation (APC).
- Breath test study for the detection of Helicobacter pylori (Urea Breath Test).
- Study and application of new endoscopic techniques for the diagnosis and treatment of large-sized neoplasms of both upper and lower digestive tract.
It is one of the few Endoscopy Departments, where the techniques below are performed:
Endoscopic submucosal dissection – ESD, for the removal of neoplasms of the upper and lower digestive tract.
Intra-oral endoscopic myotomy of the esophagus – POEM, for the treatment of esophageal motility disorders.
The endoscopy room is fully equipped with the most modern digital endoscopes and endoscopy tower, digital electronic systems for image and video recording of all endoscopic procedures and an electrosurgical unit able to use argon plasma.
It also has a modern anesthesia machine with a system for recording patient’s vital signs (pulse, blood pressure, respiratory rate) during endoscopy.
The department also has a resuscitation room with 2 beds that are continuously monitored by nurses. In addition, there is a special area for disinfection of endoscopes after each endoscopic procedure, with a modern disinfection machine of high standards. All endoscopic exams are performed in the presence of an anesthesiologist for the safest possible monitoring of the patient.
