Covid measures

At Therapis General Hospital, our main priority is to provide high quality services to protect the health of our patients. The set of procedures and practices applied at Therapis General Hospital highlight the most transparent way of our commitment to the continuous improvement of the safety and quality of health care of our patients.

From the very first moment, when a case of coronavirus appeared in our country, the Therapis General, responded immediately by implementing all the necessary measures in order to shield our facilities, protecting the health of our patients as well as our employees.

In the context of preventing the spread of the coronavirus pandemic and in accordance with the instructions of the World Health Organization, the State and the EODY, Therapis General has taken a series of strict precautionary measures, as follows :

A mandatory molecular virus detection test (PCR or Antigen test) is carried out:

  • Antigen testing to all staff (medical, nursing, administrative every 7,10, 15 days respectively).
  • PCR testing for all of our patients who are admitted for inpatient hospitalization.
  • in patients undergoing extensive and time-consuming wound or drainage device changes.
  • in patients undergoing bronchoscopy or spirometry.
  • in patients undergoing chemotherapy or immunotherapy.
  • in ICU patients based on the strict relevant protocols followed in the unit.
  • to each patient that the attending physician considers testing as necessary based on his clinical status and medical history.
  • to any patient who is going to undergo any test or medical procedure and has a history of illness from Covid-19.

The Hospital also has a mobile sampling unit specially equipped and with all the necessary precautionary measures, with which a blood test can be carried out at home as well as a test for SARS-COV2, for those who wish to do so.

Professor Andreas Karampinis is the Head of the Clinic Infections Committee, being a valuable consultant regarding matters of infections and the adoption of best practices and protection measures against the Covid-19 pandemic.

Therapis General Hospital, carries out molecular (PCR) and Rapid Antigen tests for the detection of the SARS-CoV-2.

TEST COVID-19

Molecular detection of SARS-CoV-2 is performed following the standardized Real Time RT PCR method based on reference protocols (World Health Organization (WHO) and CDC).
The examination involves nasopharyngeal samples, ensuring safer detection of the virus, even when it is at low levels.
Results are sent by e-mail within 24 hours, depending on the time of sampling (weekdays, weekends and holidays).
TESTING OF COVID-19 IgG/IgM ANTIBODIES

Quantitative determination of SARS-CoV-2 IgG/IgM antibodies in clinical serum plasma or whole blood samples is performed. Results are reported as number (antibody titer) and not as “presence” or “absence” of antibodies.
With this method we monitor the increase or decrease of antibodies for COVID, i.e immunity your body to the infection.
Antibody titer test results are sent electronically within 24 hours from the receipt of the samples from the Laboratory (weekdays and weekends and holidays).
The antigen / antibody test does not replace (in terms of validity) the molecular (PCR) test.

• -consuming wound or drainage device changes.
• in patients undergoing bronchoscopy or spirometry.
