Ο Breast cancer is the most common cancer in women and is the first cause of cancer death in the female population.
- It is statistically established that 1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer. This possibility, unfortunately, is even greater when it is combined with a burdened family history.
October is considered a worldwide breast cancer prevention month.
- The 25η October has been established as the World Day against breast cancer.
An optimistic message: If breast cancer is diagnosed at an early stage, its cure rate is 97%!
A prompt : It is very important to visit specialist mammologist – breast surgeon. Depending on the individual and family history of each woman and based on the clinical examination (palpation) of the breast and the imaging tests, the mammologist gives personalized instructions on how prevention should be carried out.
According to the established international guidelines, regular self-palpation (palpation by the woman herself) once a month, but also palpation by a specialist mammologist once a year, in combination with a mammogram from the age of 40 and further, is the necessary prevention. Breast ultrasound can strengthen the diagnosis in some women as a complementary test.
