Pathology
Internal Pathology, also known simply as Pathology (international term: Internal Medicine), is a clinical specialty of medicine that deals with the prevention, diagnosis and non-surgical treatment of diseases in adult patients, with particular emphasis on the internal organs of the human body.
The therapeutic spectrum of Internal Medicine essentially includes a wide range of disorders of the respiratory, hematopoietic, digestive, endocrine, circulatory, nervous, musculoskeletal and urogenital systems, as well as metabolic and biochemical disorders and infectious diseases.
Pathologists are often called upon to manage complex or multisystemic diseases both within hospital basis (clinics, outpatient and emergency departments) and at primary health care level (health centers, private practices).
The Pathology Department is one of the most dynamic Departments of THERAPIS GENERAL with a multidimensional activity.
In the Pathology Department, special attention is paid to Geriatrics, infections (i.e. diseases caused by microbes, viruses, parasites, fungi), the investigation of all febrile diseases and preventive vaccination programs. Our hospital has an Infection Committee with specialized medical and nursing staff that meets regularly.
