Professional Experience
- Since 2022, Thanasis Antonopoulos has been Director of the Orthopedic Clinic and the Surgical Department at Therapis General Hospital.
- He specialized in Orthopedics and Traumatology at KAT Hospital, where he served for decades, progressing through all academic ranks and ultimately becoming Coordinating Director of the 3rd Orthopedic Clinic for over 15 years.
- He also served as Orthopedic Consultant at Onassis Cardiac Surgery Center from its establishment in 1993 until 2024.
- He was Director – Head of the 1st Surgical Department of KAT Hospital for 8 years, which includes 7 Orthopedic Clinics and 4 Orthopedic Units.
- He has served as President or member of several major hospital committees (Scientific Council, Operating Room Committee, Research Committee, Ethics & Deontology Committee, Olympic Games Committee, etc.), and has also served on the boards of other hospitals such as Onassis, Evangelismos, and Hippokration in the past.
- He was Vice President of the Board of Directors of the General Oncology Hospital of Kifissia “Agioi Anargyroi.”
- He is distinguished for his surgical expertise in treating all types of osteoarthritis of major joints such as the hip and knee. He has performed a very large number of surgeries using modern minimally invasive and rapid-recovery techniques, most of them bloodless.
- With more than 45 years of experience in orthopedic surgery and traumatology, he has extensive expertise in fracture surgery of upper and lower limbs as well as pelvic and hip bones. He also has significant experience in managing polytrauma and multiple fracture patients.
- He has performed tens of thousands of surgical operations at KAT Hospital from 1980 to 2021. Since 2022, he operates exclusively at Therapis General Hospital.
- He also has extensive experience in managing septic complications of total hip and knee arthroplasties.

- Graduate of the Medical School of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (1977).
- Specialized in Orthopedics and Traumatology at KAT Hospital.
- In 1984, he received his PhD from the Medical School of Athens, combining clinical practice with research and education.

- He completed advanced training at Barnes Hospital, Washington University, St. Louis (USA), in modern orthopedic surgical techniques.
- He is a Visiting Professor at six universities abroad.

- He is a member of 15 medical and scientific societies, including the Hellenic Association of Orthopedic Surgery and Traumatology, and is a founding member of the College of Orthopedic Surgeons and Traumatologists.
- He is the founder of the “Department of Orthopedic Infections and Soft Tissue Infections” of the Hellenic Association of Orthopedic Surgery and Traumatology.
