From 2015 to 2021, he has performed more than 2,000 flexible kidney stone lithotripsies and more than 300 mini percutaneous procedures, managing the full spectrum of urolithiasis cases.
From 2019 to 2021, he was an Academic Fellow at the 1st University Urology Clinic, Laiko Hospital, responsible for the urinary stone disease unit.
In 2018, he co-founded Athens Stone Clinic, the only and most specialized center for the treatment of urinary stone disease.
In 2021, at Lefkos Stavros – The Athens Clinic, together with Dr. Ioannis Katafygiotis, they were the first to introduce and implement the transperineal Fusion prostate biopsy technique using the advanced BiopSee system by the German company Medcom, being among the first Greek urologists to apply this technique in Greece.
In 2022, Dr. I. Leotsakos and Dr. I. Katafygiotis, as key co-founders of the Central Urology team and heads of the transperineal Fusion prostate biopsy department, after strict evaluation met all the demanding criteria of the German company Medcom (clinical and academic) and received certification as a center of excellence for transperineal Fusion prostate biopsy across Southeastern Europe.
During 2022–2024, Dr. I. Leotsakos and Dr. I. Katafygiotis co-organized and conducted, with the ISLE academy (a leading simulation training center), two international seminars on the transperineal Fusion prostate biopsy technique.
During 2021–2024, the team of Dr. I. Leotsakos and Dr. I. Katafygiotis performed more than 700 transperineal Fusion prostate biopsies, making them one of the most experienced teams in applying this technique.
In 2024, together with Dr. Ioannis Katafygiotis, they co-founded Advanced Urology, a specialized urology center focusing on the treatment of urological conditions using minimally invasive endourological, laparoscopic, and robotic techniques.
The team is among the first Greek teams to have performed and continue to successfully perform combined mini percutaneous and flexible laser kidney stone lithotripsy (ECIRS) for the effective treatment of large stone burdens (large kidney stones).

Postgraduate Training

Trained as a Fellow of the European Association of Urology at the University Urology Clinic Carl Gustav Carus in Dresden, Germany (Director: Professor M. Wirth) in 2015, with emphasis on Endourology, gaining surgical experience in flexible and percutaneous kidney stone lithotripsy.
In Dresden in 2015, he was trained in the transperineal Fusion prostate biopsy technique.
In 2017, he received further training in the use of the flexible ureteroscope in Paris at Tenon Hospital under Professor O. Traxier.
During 2021–2024, he received further training in the HOLEP technique at Carl Gustav Carus Hospital in Dresden, at the University Clinic Auguste-Viktoria-Klinikum in Berlin (one of the world’s leading centers for this technique), at the specialized training center IRCAD of the University Hospital of Strasbourg under Professor Jacques Marescaux, at the training center in Düsseldorf, Germany, and at the University Urology Clinic of Freiburg, Germany under Professor Dr. Arkadiusz Miernik.
In 2021, he was trained and certified in prostate vaporization using water vapor (REZUM technique) by Boston Scientific.
From 01/07/2017 to 30/06/2018, he trained at one of the world’s leading centers in Endourology and urinary stone disease treatment, Hadassah Medical Center (Israel), under Professor Mordechai Duvdevani. He trained across the full spectrum of endourology, gaining surgical experience by performing 100 percutaneous nephrolithotripsies, 300 flexible nephrolithotripsies, 40 cystolithotripsies, and more than 100 extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsies.
